League of Legends Prestige Skin Guide | Update

Starting in 9.1, Riot has implemented a new way to customize the skins you purchase with RP. Previously, Riot has released chromas in which people are able to change the color of their skin by purchasing it in the shop for 2,000 BE. Last year when they implemented it, it became an instant success and hence why they are releasing prestige skins this time around.

If you have not heard, prestige skins can be one of two options. They can either be event specific in which they can only be obtained in a given time frame or year round. Each prestige skin can be crafted for 100 prestige point each. Unlike Gemstones, there’s no random factor to Prestige Points, so you’ll always know how close you are to getting the prestige skin you want.

Prestige skins are meant to be a rarer version of the classic skin you buy at the shop. That is why Riot has made the Prestige skin instantly recognizable. The gold-and-white color palette helps the Prestige Edition skin accomplish just that. At this point, there are currently three prestige skins in the store however there are many more that are just not currently available for sale.

At this point, you might be asking yourself “How can I get myself a prestige skin?” Luckily for you, there are many ways one can get such a skin. There are Masterwork Chests in the shop that when bought give you prestige points. The amount of points depend on how large the bundle is, the large the bundle the more points. This is a perfect option for people who do not mind spending a little money to get a skin they want.

On the flip side, Riot has also expanded the ways you can get points so you do not have to pay. Recently, Riot has announced that each event’s Event Shop will offer a one-time purchase of 100 Prestige Points as an option for players who prefer a Prestige Points skin to that event’s Prestige skin. On top of that, you’ll be able to earn 25 points regardless of buying anything. You might be thinking “Yea that helps, but I need 100.” Not to worry, Riot has also announced that they plan to do four events which totals to 100 prestige points. Not only does this mean you can get your skin, it means you can get your skin for free.
